Sprinkler repairs, added zones and system changes in Eastern Iowa

Broken heads, an added zone, moved heads or a full revamp. Service runs year round at Fleming Irrigation, and most requests are filled the same day.

Chapter 01

When the yard changes and the sprinklers do not

Most systems are drawn for the yard as it was the day they went in. Then a patio goes down, a bed gets planted, a section of lawn is added, and heads that used to cover grass are now watering a grill or spraying the new siding. The system is not broken. The yard moved on.

Other times something simply fails: a head cracked by a mower, a dry spot that keeps coming back, a zone that will not stop. Those are repairs, and they should not wait for the next scheduled visit.

Add a zone, move heads, or revamp what is there

The three jobs are different sizes. Adding a zone puts new coverage where the old system never reached. Moving heads shifts the existing coverage to match a new patio or bed. A revamp goes through the whole layout when the yard has changed enough that patching no longer makes sense.

Because Fleming keeps an as-built drawing of the systems it installs, the crew can see where the lines and valves run before digging. Heads are adjusted as they are set, so the new arcs stay on the lawn and off the drive.

Chapter 03

The drawing gets updated and the controller gets reprogrammed

A change is not finished when the last head is set. The as-built drawing in our permanent files is updated to show what is now in the ground, so the next repair, years from now, starts from the truth. The controller is reprogrammed so the new or moved zones run the way you want.

From Palo, the crew works across Cedar Rapids, Hiawatha, Marion, North Liberty, Iowa City, Coralville, Tiffin, Solon and Mount Vernon. Call (319) 393-9229 on a weekday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, and describe what the yard is doing.

Service and repair run year round, and most requests are filled the same day.

Signs your system needs a visit

Any one of these is reason enough to pick up the phone.

  1. A broken head

A head that is cracked, stuck down or throwing a fan of mist is leaking pressure that the rest of the zone needs. It is a repair, and usually a quick one.

  2. A dry spot that stays dry

A brown patch that stays brown after watering usually means a head is blocked, tilted or sitting too far from its neighbor. Coverage is drawn head to head, so the cause can be traced.

  3. Overspray on the drive

Water on pavement or siding is water wasted, and it stains. A head can be adjusted or moved so the arc stops at the edge of the lawn.

  4. A new patio or bed

Hardscape and new planting change where water should land. Heads get moved or capped, and a new bed may earn a zone of its own.

  5. A zone that will not shut off

A zone that keeps running after the controller says stop often points to the valve for that zone. That is a service call, not a guess.

“Fleming is simply great! I called yesterday about two broken sprinkler heads, and the Fleming expert was at my home this morning at 7 a.m. to repair both. Excellent service.”
