We do not install your system and then disappear.

Eight full-time irrigation employees, two full-time service technicians and a service manager with more than 25 years at Fleming. Our job is to keep the lawn and landscape looking right; yours is to sit back and enjoy it.

Sheet notes

How a Fleming system goes in, letter by letter.

This drawing is how we think about every yard. Each note is a step our crews follow on residential installs, with an experienced site manager on site from start to finish.

  1. Drawn by a certified designer

The layout is designed to fit the site and to follow building and water-use codes. Heads are spaced head-to-head, so every head throws to the next one and coverage holds in wind and at peak demand.

  2. Flagged before anything is dug

The layout is marked out on your lawn with each head flagged in position, and you approve it before installation starts.

  3. Pulled, not trenched

A machine pulls the pipe underground instead of trenching the yard. Holes for the heads are dug by hand, and shrub and perennial beds are hand dug too.

  4. Set to the edges

Valves are assembled on site and each head is adjusted so it waters turf and beds, not the driveway, the walk or the siding.

  5. Controller and rain sensor, shown to you

A state-of-the-art controller waters zone by zone, and a rain sensor puts the system on standby when it rains. Before the crew leaves, you get a walk-through of the controller, the water supply and the sensor.

  6. The as-built drawing goes on file

When the system is finished, a final as-built drawing goes into Fleming's permanent files, so whoever services it years from now knows where every line runs. Parts and labor carry a full warranty.

Residential installation in detail

After the install

The Fleming year.

An Iowa system needs attention at both ends of the season. We run it up in spring, fix it whenever something breaks, certify the backflow device and blow the lines out before the ground freezes. You get a notice before winterization; you do not have to remember.

Spring start-up

Each zone run and checked for broken heads and coverage, repairs made, RPZ tested where required.

RPZ backflow certification

Six state-certified testers. We test it, do the paperwork and submit it to your municipality.

Service and repair, year round

Call or email any time. Most service requests are filled the same day.

Winterization

A notice goes out each fall, typically in October. Lines are blown out and the RPZ goes into heated storage.
