Lawn sprinkler systems for Eastern Iowa homes

A certified designer lays out your system, you approve the flags on the grass, and a machine pulls the pipe so the yard is not trenched. Free estimates on new installations.

Chapter 01

Where a guessed layout goes wrong

Most lawns that never quite green up share one story: heads placed by eye and spaced a little too far apart. The corners stay dry, the middle gets soaked, and the spray that misses the grass lands on the driveway and the siding. You end up running the system longer to save the worst patch, which waters everything else more than it needs.

That is why a Fleming install starts on paper. A certified designer lays out the system for your lot, so each head throws to the next one and the water stays on the turf. Homes in Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha and across the rest of Eastern Iowa get a drawn plan for their own yard, not a catalog layout.

Flags first, then a machine instead of a trencher

Before anything goes underground, the layout is flagged on your lawn with the heads positioned where they will sit. You walk it and approve it. If a flag is in the wrong spot for the patio or the play area, it moves now, when moving it costs a flag and not a length of pipe.

Then a machine pulls the pipe underground, so no trench cuts across your yard. Shrub and perennial beds are dug by hand, and so are the holes for the heads. Valves are assembled on site and every head is adjusted to avoid overspray before we call the job finished. An experienced site manager is on site for the whole installation.

Chapter 03

The walk-through at handover, and the sheet we keep

When the last head is adjusted, we walk you through the controller, the water supply and the rain sensor. The controller is state-of-the-art, with selective watering, and the rain sensor puts the system on standby when it rains. Customers also use the phone app to control each zone.

Every installation carries a full warranty on parts and labor. Your system is then drawn up as an as-built, a sheet showing where the pipe, valves and heads actually ended up, and it goes into Fleming's permanent files. Call the Palo office at (319) 393-9229 years from now and the line you need is already on paper.

"Very professional, answered all questions. Excellent clean up, yard looks great when done." Scott Geweke, Google review

Sheet Z1 · On your lawn

Three marks on your lawn before any pipe moves

The drawing on the right is the end of the job. These three lettered steps are how your yard gets there, in the order they happen.

  1. Flags on the grass

Every head position is flagged where it will sit. You walk the layout and approve it before installation starts.

  2. The pipe path

A machine pulls the pipe along the route we marked. There is no trench across the yard, so the turf stays turf.

  3. Beds and head holes

Shrub and perennial beds are dug by hand, and so is every head hole. Each head is then adjusted to keep spray off the drive and siding.
